Iarnród Éireann is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Rosslare Europort Operatives. The successful candidates will provide operational and customer services to the shipping companies operating from the terminal at Rosslare Europort.

The role will be offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis initially with potential for permanency.

Key responsibilities will include

• Assist in the safe and efficient loading and discharge of passengers and freight travelling on ferry services to and from the port.
• Assist with customer queries and processing of bookings.
• Mooring and un-mooring of vessels calling to the port.
• Passenger vehicle and freight vehicle marshalling within the Port.
• Provide ticket validation and guidance to passengers.
• General maintenance duties to maintain port facilities.
• Control of access to and from the port.
• Discharging of trade Vehicles and un-accompanied units from vessels.
• Loading and discharging of unaccompanied Freight trailers using tug master tractors.
• General operations and customer issues.

Requirements and Skills
Essential Requirements

• The successful candidate should have good administration and computer skills, verbal and numerical reasoning skills and the ability to work in a team
• The successful candidate should demonstrate good safety awareness skills and concern for safety.
• For passenger operations, there is a need to have good customer service skills and inter personal skills and enjoy working with people.
• The successful candidate will be expected to work flexible working hours

Desirable Requirements

• Full, clean driving License, H.G.V. License or previous experience operating port machinery an advantage.
• Previous experience in a customer service role.

The Role:

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

• Operative will empty wheelie bins as required by each “run”. Ensure that wheelie bins that are contaminated are not collected. Ensure that wheelie bins that blacklist are not collected. Ensure that wheelie bins are left back in position they were collected from.

• Aid driver in completing commercial wheelie bin collections, as necessary, Aid relief driver so they have an understanding of route to be followed and Aid the driver in reversing.

• Relevant paperwork to be completed where necessary and clocking in/out on each day of work.

• Operative will be punctual in terms of route start time.

• Always show courtesy to all customers and members of the public as well as work colleagues.

• Report any difficulties encountered with others to the line manager.

• All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-workers and members of the public using the premises.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes.

• Minimum 1-2 years Transport/Waste Industry experience

• Manual Handling & Safe Pass an advantage

• Good Written and Verbal English essential.

• Must be flexible to work across different work sections within the business.

• Proficiency in the English language is a requirement alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.

Duties and responsibilities
Support our dairy farmers so that they get the best out of their DeLaval VMS milking robot and sensors.

• Guide customers who already work with a DeLaval VMS milking robot, DeLaval Delpro
• Systems and associated herd management sensors
• Advise on grassland management to help customers run their DeLaval VMS in conjunction with grazing
• Analyse herd performance and be able to communicate clear guidance to customers
