HGV Mechanic
Our BNM Recycling Business Unit currently has a need for a HGV Mechanic on a full time CID contract. The role will be based in our office at Bord na Móna Recycling – Lusk and will report directly to the Service Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on a fleet of recycling collection vehicles at the Lusk workshop.

The Role:
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- Perform planned vehicle maintenance and servicing, CVRT preparation, diagnostics, and repairs to a fleet of Recycling Collection Vehicles, Skip and Hook Loaders, and other vehicles within the fleet, while maintaining maintenance records.
- Conduct examinations of vehicles and respond to daily checks as reported by drivers, to identify and repair non-routine defects, while working to high standards in accordance with the brands technical standards.
- ·Maintain and develop your technical skills in line with business, environmental and vehicle / technical changes within the waste management industry.
- Work closely with the transport team, informing them of progress, to ensure vehicles are available to service planned collections for the end customer.
- Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation in line with company, RSA and other governing bodies guidelines.
- Offer technical advice and support to other technicians and apprentices.
- Co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring the Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public.
- Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, direct reports, and wider team objectives.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes.
- Minimum 3 years mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience working within the HGV Mechanic sector a district advantage.
- Trade Qualification or Equivalent desirable.
- Experience within waste management / logistics and customer service desirable.
- Highly organized, driven, with good time management skills and a logical approach, able to prioritise workload and excellent attention to detail.
- Be innovative in your approach to work and possess the ability to network effectively
- Proficiency in the English language is a requirement alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.
